Acura, Acura TL

Introduction:
The Acura TL is a true sports sedan, albeit with front-wheel drive. The TL delivers sharp-handling, a powerful V6 engine, a fully independent suspension, and the latest active safety electronics to optimize driving dynamics.

New For 2005:
The best-selling Acura model received no changes of note for 2005. Redesigned in 2004, the third-generation TL is muscular, edgy, and modern. Every feature exudes both performance and luxury, making the TL arguably more attractive than the much costlier RL. A descendant of the infamous Acura Vigor, the 2005 TL boasts a smooth 270-hp V6, 17-inch wheels, front side airbags, and heated seats, all stock. With a choice between 5-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed manual, the TL caters to the luxury sports car enthusiast in us all. Acura also offers the optional A-Spec package, which adds 18-inch wheels, a lowered suspension, a rear spoiler, and an aero kit.

Consumer Reports' Short Take:
Acura's TL, based on the Honda Accord, is the highest-scoring car we've tested in the upscale-sedan category. The TL is among the few models in this class that provide a near-ideal blend of comfort, convenience, and sportiness--all at a reasonable price. It delivers taut, agile handling, though ultimately it's not as nimble as a BMW 3 Series or Mercedes C-Class. The car is very quick yet attains commendable fuel economy. The TL has a firm but comfortable and quiet ride. Interior quality is impressive.
